Donald Lim to succeed Angelito Pangilinan as Dentsu’s Philippines CEO

Donald Lim will join as the new CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines, succeeding Angelito Pangilinan (known as BoyP), effective April 3, 2017.

Mr Lim will be tasked with driving reputational leadership for Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines bringing together the group’s premier capabilities in media, data, content and creativity under its unique one P&L operating model. BoyP will remain with the company and move into the role of non-executive Chairman focussing on industry relationships and training and development.
Bringing with him close to 20 years of experience in senior leadership positions, Mr Lim has worked on creative agency, client and media owner side with a particular emphasis on digital marketing. He joins the business from ABS-CBN Corporation where he served as the Chief Digital Officer, leading the group’s digital transformation journey, and prior to this, held the Chief Innovation Officer role at McCann Worldgroup Philippines as well as Managing Director of MRM//McCann. He was recently awarded the 2015 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, and The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) for Community Building in Digital Media. Commenting on the appointment, Dick van Motman, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Southeast Asia, said, “We’ve transformed our business within Southeast Asia considerably with premier capabilities needed to excel and lead within the digital economy capitalizing on the continued economic growth we see throughout the region. The Philippines, being one of the fastest growing economies in Asia Pacific is arguably the best representation of this with the recent addition of ASPAC, Dentsu Jayme Syfu and the development of properties such as the Fusion music festival.”

“It’s now time to accelerate our journey and unlock our full potential with next generation leadership that can move freely between creativity, data and media. Both BoyP and I agreed that Donald Lim embodies all these qualities and has an excellent track record driving transformational growth by knowing where the industry is headed to and building high performance teams to get there. His leadership style is convergent, collaborative, energetic and visionary. I very much look forward to have him drive the next chapter of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines with BoyP,” Mr Motman added.

BoyP, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines, said, “I’m proud to say that Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines has evolved rapidly over the last few years into a leading player within the industry serving a blue-chip client list with award-winning capabilities and talent. We’ve got a great team and great momentum. We need to keep moving and capitalize on our unique convergent way of working with the next generation of leadership. With Donald’s extensive digital leadership background I’m confident that Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines is well set to grow and I look forward to working with him.”

“Philippines is gaining a lot of traction economically and digitally. Having spent many years working in this market, it is at this very moment that we can really let true innovation take flight and succeed. To be part of a business that has the combination of creativity, digital, data and media at the forefront of its vision, and has shown a commitment to build brands in a convergent world, completely aligns with what I hope to bring to the table. I’m both motivated and excited to bring Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines to the forefront and secure our position as leaders in the digital economy,” Mr Lim added.
