AT&T Bringing 5G Evolution to Major Metros by End of Year
Ahead of the weekend, AT&T announced 5G Evolution plans to pave the way to the next generation of faster speeds for its wireless customers with the latest devices in over 20 major metro areas by the end of this year.
“We continue to lay the foundation for our evolution to 5G while the 5G standards are being finalized,” the company stated in a release to media.
In select areas of Austin starting today, AT&T wireless customers with a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ can access faster 5G Evolution internet speeds.
“Our 5G Evolution in Austin gives our customers a taste of the future,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Entertainment Group. “With 5G Evolution from AT&T you don’t have to wait to experience endless entertainment possibilities on the next generation network when you have the latest devices.”
Next up, Indianapolis. And some of the major metros in the company’s plans include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, San Francisco and others.
“Our 5G Evolution offers infinite possibilities and allows you to take faster internet speeds with you on the go,” AT&T says. “In Austin, that means it offers twice the speeds of our 4G LTE network,1 and can be accessed by customers on almost all AT&T data plans with a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ device. These faster speeds allow reduced gaming lag and less buffering when watching your favorite shows while on the go.”
