Indonesia is Instagram’s largest APAC market
Instagram now has more than 45 million monthly active users in Indonesia – up from 22 million in early 2016. This makes Indonesia Instagram’s largest community in Asia Pacific, and one of the top markets among Instagram’s 700 million monthly active global users.
The company’s internal data also shows that Indonesia is among the top Instagram Stories producers – producing twice as many stories as the global average.
Facebook’s latest earnings report for the second quarter shows that Instagram now has 15 million using business profiles up from eight million in March 2017. About 80 per cent of Instagrammers follow a business and one-third of most viewed Instagram Stories from businesses.
Blibli.com was the first Indonesian business to tap on a new visual format, ads in Stories. The campaign had a 22-point lift in ad recall and a 7-point lift in message association among women aged 25–34. Blibli.com also saw almost 5,000 incremental conversions as a result of its ads in Stories.
“We’re thrilled to share that there are more than 45 million Indonesians active on Instagram every month, making Indonesia the largest community in Asia Pacific. We’ve a strong local culture of sharing moments that matter to us, so it’s no wonder that Indonesia is among the top Instagram Stories producers in the world, producing twice as many stories as the global average,” said Sri Widowati, Country Director – Indonesia, Facebook.
