8 bn will watch FIFA World Cup: An insight into global audiences
IPG Mediabrands’ sports analysis division, Futures Sports & Entertainment has put together a summary of FIFA World Cup 2014 global TV audience predictions.
An econometric model, quantifying the relative importance and interaction between the many factors that affect TV audiences, has been built based on broadcast data going back to the 1998 FIFA World Cup. This process has been conducted on a country-by-country basis for over 50 countries to account for the differing media landscapes and sporting preferences. The audience projections displayed are based on the most likely tournament outcome, as determined by bookmakers’ betting odds from around the world.
