Top ten apps for 2014

As Asia became a mobile first market this year, digital and mobile was high on priority for marketers and consumers alike this year, whether it be for social, videos, banking or online shopping.

Social media apps ruled the roost this year with Facebook coming up as the number one app, according to Nielsen data. Facebook had over 118 million average unique users each month and was followed by Google Search, which had about 90 million average unique users. YouTube was third in place with 88 million average unique users.

One of the apps to stand out because of its year-over-year change was Facebook Messenger which has risen 242 per cent since 2013 and is at the seventh position.

Google’s Google Play, Google Maps, Gmail and Google+ apps took the fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth position respectively.

Instagram also made it to the Top 10 list at number nine followed by Apple’s iTunes Radio and iCloud apps at number ten.
