See some of the politically charged accounts Facebook just killed for being fake


It’s still happening. That was Facebook’s message today regarding murky attempts at using its platform to meddle in the American political system; see “Facebook finds ongoing evidence of election interference” (Bloomberg News via Ad Age).

In addition to revealing in a statement that “today we removed 32 Pages and accounts from Facebook and Instagram because they were involved in coordinated inauthentic behavior,” the social network released examples of what it found. It also noted that it was in the “very early stages of our investigation and don’t have all the factsincluding who may be behind this.” Facebook summarized its findings thusly:

In total, more than 290,000 accounts followed at least one of these Pages, the earliest of which was created in March 2017. The latest was created in May 2018.
