Another topic of discussion was the concert mishap with Foo Fighters’ front man Dave Grohl who performed with a broken leg after falling off the stage, drawing admiration from men and women alike for his rocker spirit.

Besides public figures, Samsung was a hot topic on Facebook in Australia after researchers revealed that 600 million of the South Korean company’s mobile devices might be vulnerable to cyber attacks, which could affect many Australians.

Australian retailer Woolworths was discussed as its CEO resigned amidst plans to cut 1,200 jobs. Many people were also excited about the arrival of the Apple Watch for purchase in Australia on 17 June.

Ramadan related thoughts and words of encouragement were also shared on Facebook during the holy month of fasting and prayer, which began on 17 June. Among older men and women, Australian Human Rights Commission President Gillian Triggs, who had been locking horns with the government, was widely discussed.

Sports fans cheered on the Australia Matildas’ FIFA Women’s World Cup performance against USA, even though the team fell short. Men in Australia buzzed about the North Queensland Cowboys, who staged one of the biggest comebacks in National Rugby League history. They also shared their excitement about the Geelong Football Club’s trashing of Essendon.
