Data pick of the day: 34% users search products to buy through mobile

At a global level, 74 per cent of internet users say that they use the internet to search for products or services they want to buy.

If this number was observed by device, it would be clear that mobiles have an increasingly important role to play in the purchase process. The number of people searching through mobile has increased from 30 per cent in late 2012 to 34 per cent by the end of 2013.

When this is converted this to an audience size, the scale of the rise is much more dramatic – up from around 480 million to nearly 615 million in just one year. As with so many other online behaviours, mobile is constantly on the rise.
